Nestled in the heart of
Amish Country, our cabins feel like they are deep in the woods, yet we
are only minutes from restaurants, golf courses, coffee bars, wineries,
shopping, and much more. Built from Michigan white cedar logs, the
cabins combine a rustic setting with the luxury our guest enjoy for a
romantic and relaxing getaway. With a gas-log fireplace, an over-sized
king bed, fine linens and a Jacuzzi for two, each cabin is the perfect
setting to reconnect with the one you love.
We are Paul and Kathy Marner, owners of Ferngully Creek.
Since we have always enjoyed entertaining guests at our home it seemed a
logical choice to open a hospitality business. Reading the guest books
keeps us enthused; we wanted to provide a place for people to relax and
get away from the stresses of life and it is working!
Paul is a building contractor and craftsman who enjoys creating
custom furniture and cabinetry. After having the white cedar logs set
in place by a local log home builder, he completed the cabins himself.
The tile work, cabinetry, flooring, screened-in porches and decks make
it easy to see he enjoys his craft. Two cabins were completed when
several large cherry trees fell during the ice storm of 2004. Paul
salvaged the trees, using them for most of the furniture in the third
cabin which was added later the following year.
I (Kathy) retired from nursing in 2003 to devote my time to the cabins and to our family. We have two adult children, our son Erik and our daughter Jaimee’, both of whom help keep things running smoothly. Jaimee’ answers the phone and organizes the day-to-day operations. Erik takes care of the technical aspects of the video and sound equipment and assists with grounds-keeping. He recently produced our first U-tube video as well. With all the help they give, I have more time to spend with their children, our wonderful grandchildren.
We hope you will find peace and relaxation when you come to Ferngully. Guests frequently mention the variety of birds and animals that visited during their stay. A salt lick keeps the deer coming by and feeders keep the birds and squirrels happy. Wild turkeys are popular as well as the occasional raccoon. So come visit us; sit back, relax, and let the world go by without you for a few days!
